The Importance of Remote Edge Device Management
With the global wave of digital transformation, edge computing has become a necessity to accelerate data processing for real-time information in smart technology.
Edge devices can be seen vastly spread across smart cities all around the world. This makes unified, scalable, and flexible remote edge device management platforms valuable and fundamental for managed service providers (MSPs). An effective remote device management platform can save MSPs a lot of time and costs scheduling in on-site technical support. Effective remote management can also help reduce large amounts of Co2 emission by cutting out on-site travel and help to eliminate the safety risks field technicians face when attending to hard-to-reach edge AI devices.
The Nuisances
There are many cloud services available that make remote hardware management possible, however, most are built on a Platform as a Service (PaaS) architecture which makes remote device management limiting and less versatile.
Nowadays, hardware manufacturers work with software developers to build basic remote management platforms that are only good for the assigned hardware. This results in the need for MSPs to use and subscribe to multiple platforms when working on multiple projects.
From PaaS to SaaS
Allxon is a Software as a Service (SaaS) company that has pioneered the concept of SaaS-In-Chip to make it possible to develop and add custom Out-Of-Band management services onto an open, unified platform for boundless remote management.
In collaboration with Nuvoton, Allxon’s powerful OOB management features are already built into the Nuvoton NUC 980 Chili Board for MSPs to instantly start remote managing hardware devices. Moving beyond PaaS architecture, Allxon enables flexible and scalable remote management with their SaaS services − Included in the Nuvoton microchip is the impressive Allxon plugIN starter kit for developers to easily build additional OOB features onto Allxon Portal for MSPs to manage multiple projects on a single, unified platform. MSPs also benefit with instant access to all of Allxon’s essential In-Band features that are available for immediate use on Allxon Portal.
A Complete Solution
Allxon SaaS-In-Chip is powered by the Nuvoton Chili Board to provide service integrators (SIs) a turnkey solution. In addition to the costs saved from effective remote device management, SIs can now offer hardware manufacturers and managed service providers a complete solution that eliminates the cost and time previously spent on technological integration.
Allxon empowers businesses with invaluable solutions that make remote edge device management scalable, flexible, secure, and inclusive for all industries and hardware types. Using simple SaaS services, Allxon optimizes remote business operations to keep all services ON.
More About the Nuvoton NUC 980 Chili Board
The NUC980 Chili platform uses the industry’s smallest LQFP64 package and built-in 64MB DRAM, integrating multiple I2C (supports SMBus and PMBus), UART, SPI, etc., and can be connected to wireless networks such as Wi-Fi, 4G LTE, etc. through wired Ethernet or USB. BSP also has multiple built-in network protocols and OpenSSL (TLS), encrypted and decrypted secure communication that makes it suitable for OOB management and development for remote edge device monitoring.
