Introduction
Allxon swiftDR for OOB Cloud Serial Console is an industry-first hardware-based serial console feature, enabled by the Allxon OOB Enabler.
Unlike software-based remote device management tools, when the main system is unresponsive, Cloud Serial Console provides uninterrupted access to lower-level systems, allowing users to view boot sequences during the device's startup. This accelerates error identification and reduces system downtime.
<Supported Architecture>
The Cloud Serial Console currently supports NVIDIA Jetson devices with a serial port. For support on other architectures, such as x86, please contact us to confirm availability.
Step 1: Set Group Baud Rate
- Log into Allxon Portal and navigate to the device's overview page.
- Click the Cloud Serial Console tab at the top of the Actions section.
- Click the Baud Rate edit button to set the Baud Rate on the Group settings page.
- Click the edit button on the right side of the page to set the Baud Rate.
- Once you've completed the settings, return to the overview page to start using the Cloud Serial Console.
💡Note:
1. The Baud Rate of the OOB Enabler must be set to ensure accurate transmission of signals between the OOB Enabler and the device.
2. This setting will be applied to all devices in the group instantly and may affect those already using the Cloud Serial Console.
3. By default, the baud rate for NVIDIA Jetson devices is 115200.
Step 2: Open a new session
-
Open the device's overview page and click the "Open Session" button.
- After completing 'Calling API' and 'Building the tunnel', Cloud Serial Console will be launched in a new tab.
💡Reminder:
1. Cloud Serial Console supports encoding formats such as UTF-8, VT100, and VT100+. Please ensure that the character set of the console is compatible.
2. The system automatically closes the session if it remains idle for 10 minutes.
3. Cloud Serial Console cannot be used in multiple windows. To open a new session, please follow the same steps as before.
💡Note: The limit for storing command lines in a session of the Cloud Serial Console is 100,000.
Step 3: Start using Cloud Serial Console
While using the Cloud Serial Console, users can operate the terminal like other software-based solutions. Even if the system fails, users can still view the boot sequences during the device's startup and access the UEFI settings.
If users want to save the data log, click the 'Output Log' button at the bottom right. After a short while, the data log will be saved as a .txt file.
💡Reminder:
1. When the session is refreshing, users cannot use the output log function.
2. If users open another session without closing the original one, the original session will be forced to close.
3. Currently, the Serial Console cannot support some specific tools with colorful interfaces, such as jtop.
4. Some specific apps, such as VIM, are not closed when ending the session. Since this will prevent other users from using the Serial Console, please close them manually before ending the session.
