How to Set-Up OOB Scan-to-Add

Introduction

The OOB Scan-to-Add feature is a new and efficient method that onboards OOB Enabler to your Allxon account by simply scanning a data metric code. In this article, you will learn how to quickly add OOB Enabler to your Allxon network via a two-step process:

1. Generate a URL on Allxon Portal
2. Scan to Add OOB Enabler via Mobile

Step 1: Generate a URL on Allxon Portal

To start using the OOB Scan-to-Add feature, you need to generate a unique URL on the Allxon Portal. This URL will create a data metric code that you can scan with your mobile device to easily add new OOB Enabler to your Allxon account. Follow these steps to generate the URL and streamline your OOB Enabler onboarding process.

1. Head over to Allxon Portal and click on the Group Settings icon  on the left side of the page. Click on the Access Token tab, then select OOB Scan-to-Add to open the OOB Scan-to-Add main page.
   
2. Click on + Generate URL to start generating a URL code.
   
3. Enter your preferred URL Name, desired Expiration Date and Verification Code. Click on the Generate button to complete. You will now be redirected back to the main page where you can find your newly generated URL code.
   
   

   ** Tips: Should the URL Code fail to generate, reasons could include not inputting all the required information such as URL Name, Expiration Date and Verification Code. Make sure there are no spaces entered before the text, the expiration date does not exceed the limit set and the verification code only contains numerical digits.

   

Click on the copy icon to copy the newly generated URL code. (You can add up to three URL codes.) You are now ready to proceed to Step 2: Scan to Add Devices via Mobile.

Delete Existing URL

A URL can be deleted from the OOB Add-to-Scan main page if it is no longer needed, or the URL has expired and is not available for use. To delete an existing URL, follow the steps below:

1. Click on the delete icondisplayed on the far right of the URL Name.   
   
2. Re-type the URL name into text box below and then proceed to click on the Delete button to complete the deletion process.
   
3. Once the URL has been successfully deleted, you will be directed back to the main page, where you can click on + Generate URL to restart the URL Generation process.
   

Step 2: Scan to Add OOB Enabler on your Mobile

After generating a URL code on the Allxon Portal, you can add devices to the Portal by opening the URL code in your browser and scan the data metric code on the mobile device.

1. Paste the URL code generated from the Allxon Portal into the search bar of your mobile phone's internet browser. Enter the Verification Code, and then click on the Verify button.
   
2. Click on the Scan button to open up your camera and get ready to scan the data metric Code found on your edge device.
   
   

   **Tips: Alternatively, you can manually input the device’s Serial Number and Pin Code to take you to the next step.

   
3. Select the drop-down arrow to choose either the front or back camera on your mobile device. Use the selected camera to scan the data metric code on your mobile device. When the scanner's edge turns green, the scan is successful.
   
4. The device's Serial Number and Pin Code will now be displayed at the bottom of the page. You also have the option of re-naming the Device under Device Name. Once complete, click on the Add OOB Enabler Button to finalize the setup.
   
5. If your device has been successfully added, an Adding success! banner will appear at the bottom.
